Iconic Pride returns for 2024 - Pathways of Pride!

Iconic Pride returns for June 2024, with a new theme! The theme of this year’s events is Pathways of Pride inspired by the textile installation Divine Pathways by Anne Patterson on display through June 2024.

Events include a Pride Eve kick off celebration featuring a special performance and the turning on of the iconic Pride Lights inside the Cathedral; a book talk with Chloe Davis on her new young readers’ edition of The Queens’ English, hosted in partnership with The Cathedral School of St. John the Divine; Pride Family Picnic, including a Drag Story Hour at The Cathedral School and a performance by The Queer Big Apple Corps Marching Band; and a Pride Evensong featuring a community choir open to all. Kick off Pride 2024 at the Cathedral with A Pilgrimage to Pride.

Journey to the Upper West Side for an evening of crafts, color, and pageantry. The night will begin with a cocktail hour where visitors are encouraged to tour the Cathedral, mingle, and visit different craft stations. Our Host, the Greedy Peasant, will then take to the stage for a 40-minute performance culminating in illumination of the Cathedral in its traditional rainbow lights.

All are welcome for this special occasion, with monochromatic fanciful dress encouraged. The suggested colors include red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Tassels also implied.

The Queens’ English by Chloe Davis: All-Ages Author Talk
Join author, performer, and activist Chloe O. Davis as she celebrates the release of her new book The Queens' English, The Young Readers' LGBTQIA+ Dictionary of Lingo and Colloquial Phrases and engages in conversation with Darcy Connors, Executive Director of SAGEServes at SAGE USA, an advocacy group for LGBTQ+ Elders, and Erica Corbin, Head of School at The Cathedral School of St. John the Divine, about the power of language in shaping community and identity—past, present, and future. This is an all-ages event, with a particular focus on intergenerational story-telling—come learn more about LGBTQ+ history through the lens of language! Copies of The Queen’s English will be available for purchase.

The Queer Big Apple Corps Marching Band returns this summer for another spectacular performance! All are welcome to picnic in the Cathedral Gardens and enjoy an afternoon of community and musical joy.

Please note that Sunday's Drag Story Hour, scheduled for 12 PM, has been canceled. The Family Picnic, featuring the Queer Big Apple Corps Marching Band at 2 PM, and the Pride Evensong at 4 PM will proceed as planned.
