Peggy Shepard, a national leader on environmental justice, will visit the Cathedral School to speak about issues surrounding food access and the environment. Shepard is the Executive Director and co-founder of West Harlem Environmental Action, Inc. (WE ACT), New York's first environmental justice organization. An author and former journalist, she has published many articles chronicling environmental impacts on urban health. Her numerous honors include the 10th Annual Heinz Award for the Environment, Audubon's Rachel Carson Award in 2004, and the Susan B. Anthony Award from the National Organization of Women NYC Chapter.
