Flutes of Hope is an ensemble and music program established in 2012 to pay tribute to the resilience of the Japanese people following the devastating earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear accident of March 2011. This year's program commemorates the fourth anniversary of the triple disaster and honors the spirits of those lost and the strength and compassion of those who are rebuilding their lives and their communities.

The concert will include traditional Japanese music as well as compositions by Teiji Ito, Henry Cowell, and Kaoru Watanabe.

The Flutes of Hope 2015 participating artists are:
Ralph Samuelson, shakuhachi (vertical bamboo flute)
Kaoru Watanabe, shinobue (transverse bamboo flute) and taiko (drums)
Steve Gorn, bansuri (bamboo flute of North India)
Sumie Kaneko, shamisen (3-string plucked lute) and koto (13-string zither)
Yukio Tsuji, percussion and strings

This event is open to the public; however, as always, your contributions to the Cathedral are always appreciated.
