Mano a Mano: Mexican Culture Without Borders
Join us for a talk on the meaning and symbolism of Día de Muertos and the ofrenda in the Cathedral created by Sebastián Gámez.
At the Cathedral, we are honored to continue our tradition of the communal Ofrenda, a sacred altar of remembrance and thanksgiving that beautifully embraces the tradition of Día de Muertos. This shared act of devotion reminds us that love transcends the boundary of death and that the communion of saints is real and present.
This year’s Ofrenda, once again designed by congregation member and acclaimed artist Sebastian Gamez, will be blessed this morning, as we read the names of the dearly departed.
We invite you to participate by bringing a photograph, a memento, or any small offering in honor of a loved one throughout the entire month of November. There is great healing and hope in sharing these lives with our whole community.
