New Year's Eve Concert For Peace
Founded by Leonard Bernstein in 1984, the annual New Year’s Eve Concert for Peace is a signature Cathedral event. Led by Kent Tritle, Director of Cathedral Music, this year’s concert includes Handel’s Water Music, Suite No. 3. The choir joins with a moving set of contemporary pieces, including the U.S. premiere of See the Wretched Strangers by Lucas Wiegerink, and excerpts from Bernstein’s Mass in celebration of his centennial year. Artists in Residence Jason Robert Brown and Judy Collins make their own musical offerings, and the evening concludes with Joseph Haydn’s Te Deum, to welcome the new year with affirmation and joy.
General admission seats are free and open to the public on the night of the show. Reserved seats are sold out.
