Director Karin Coonrod returns to the Cathedral with texts&beheadings/ElizabethR. The piece is a witty, elegant theatrical portrait of survival and power. With one swift stroke of the sword on Anne Boleyn’s neck, the Princess Elizabeth becomes a royal bastard. Elizabeth, age 3: “How hath it yesterday ‘Lady Princess’ and today but ‘Elizabeth’?”

Karin Coonrod uses the queen's own words from her speeches, letters, poems and prayers to reveal a woman struggling with doubt and identity as she rises to power in a hyper-masculine world.

This performance is presented as part of the Cathedral's programming in connection with The Christa Project: Manifesting Divine Bodies.
