The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine

The Columbarium

Use of the Columbarium is open to all individuals, regardless of nationality, ethnic or religious background. The portion of the Columbarium which is still available exists in the gothic St. Ansgar's Chapel, designed by Henry Vaughan. The more than 500 vaults, covered with the warm hues of Rojo, Amber and Carrera marble, are situated under two great stained-glass windows depicting Old and New Testament scenes.

The chapel itself provides a quiet meditation space for those visiting the Columbarium and also a suitable place for memorial services preceding interments. Family and individual needs are provided for as the Cathedral continues to be a house of prayer for all people.
